Why you should undertake a Fire Risk Assessment:
- You have a legal requirement under existing legislation
- The new Fire Safety Reform (England) Order 2005 came into force in October 2006, placing greater emphasis on fire risk assessment and management within your organisation.
- You can no longer rely on fire certificates previously issued by the fire authority. All companies will need to undertake 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessments.
- Your organisation will be required to identify the 'responsible person' with overall responsibility for fire safety (most likely the CEO, owner or premises manager etc.)
- Companies will also be required to appoint 'competent persons' who will be in charge of implementing the requirements.
- Breaches of fire legislation can lead to prosecution, unlimited fines and imprisonment.
Our Fire Risk Assessment Service:
We have a team of qualified, highly experienced safety consultants, a selected group of which have been specially trained to conduct fire risk assessments. These skilled individuals will visit your business premises to review activities and arrangements seen at time of the visit, as well as other factors advised by your company representative to the consultant during the visit, in relation to:
- Fire safety organisation, arrangements and procedures;
- Persons at risk from fire;
- The physical features of your premises that could allow fire to spread;
- Means of escape in event of an emergency;
- Fire safety controls and their testing and maintenance;
- Fire precautions and prevention methods;
- Fire hazard identification and management processes;
- Fire safety and awareness training programmes.
The findings of the site visit will be presented in the report we send you, which clearly identifies:
- Suitable and sufficient controls already in place;
- Inadequate controls found;
- Recommended actions to address identified inadequacies and the relevant action priority;
- A residual fire risk assessment rating (i.e. the level of risk that remains when suitable control measures have been implemented.)
